HEROES: AN INSIDER'S GUIDE TO THE AWARD-WINNING SHOW

E-mail Print PDF

WHAT IS IT?

Following a total eclipse, the special powers of a multitude of seemingly ordinary people are gradually revealed. While struggling to come to terms with their abilities, alliances must be forged and sacrifices made if the emerging Heroes are to fulfill their ultimate destiny — and save the world.

THE READ

If you’re a Heroes nut and don’t already own every edition of the official magazine, this full-colour book is pretty much a must-buy. It includes interviews with all key cast members, including Masi Oka (Hiro) and Hayden Panettiere (Claire) and loads of behind-the-scenes pictures, all broken down into small, bite-size chunks.

The book starts with a brief synopsis and the introduction of the first chapter named Genesis. The layout of the page itself is very comic book like in the way that there are lots of little boxes scattered across the page giving you even more information on the programme with pictures as examples. It gives a detailed description of everything that happened in the programmes released to the public and also the parts that were not and hints of what is to come.

THE AFTERMATH

With interviews and writers comments through the book it really gives the reader an inside look at the production of the series which I find fascinating to read as I am sure other fans will too. The only thing that I found disappointing was that Christopher Eccleston(Claude Raines) was not mentioned. Claude was a major part of Peter Petrelli’s progression to master his new found abilities and also gave him the power of invisibility, however I can understand that with all the other characters and the amount of explanation that is needed to make the characters’ lives understood the writer may not have seen an appropriate place to put him in. This aside I thoroughly enjoyed the guide.

The book features in depth interviews with the cast, commentary from the crew and it even takes you behind the scenes, deconstructing some of the show’s amazing visual effects sequences.

Every page is packed with stunning photographs, illustrations and production artwork, which are sure to make any ‘Heroes’ fan water at the mount. The sheer amount of effort and attention to detail put into the design and layout of the book is incredible and makes for a truly immersive visual experience.
